Itinerary

Does anyone out there have a recent daily itinerary/schedule with times, that they would be willing to share? We are new to Tauck, and enjoyed our recent tour, but there were several days in a row of early departures, which wore on us.

Thank you.

  • I don't have a recent tour itinerary with departure times but... Before I book a tour I take a map and calculate the mileage each day. This gives us an idea about how long we will be on the bus and possibly if there are any really early departures. In general we have seen departures between 8 and 9 AM. I would doubt that you will see any before those times unless you are scheduled for a very early train ride. It will be unlikely to have a departure after 9AM.

If luggage is the issue, get it ready the night before. Take your showers in the evening before or after dinner so that you do not need to get up very early in the morning. We always got up by six to go to work and left shortly after seven, so these times are not extraordinarily early.

  • The luggage pulls can be an issue based on tour size and the hotels. For our upcoming trip I will be packing a Red Oxx extra small aviator duffle which just meets the size for a personal item on most airlines in my checked bag. I will use it to on days we are transferring hotels to put my toiletries, sleeping attire, electronics and one change of clothes. I will carry it down to the bus. On the way home, it’s a souvenir bag.

  • These days, you have to have your bag ready up to two hours before departure on an hotel change day. Mostly, they are collected from inside your room. So there is plenty of time to shower and have breakfast before departure. If you are comfortable being in bed when the bellman comes into your room, then that’s ok but he is likely to disturb you anyway.
We might shower at night too, but always shower in the morning even if it has to be with cold water, that’s just us, we like to be fresh.
On Tauck tours, it’s nothing to have to be up by 5-30 am on departure days.

  • Just remember that someone else's daily tour itinerary might not be exactly that same as yours. Different TDs, local events, how prompt the group is at showing up on time, etc can all impact your actual experience.

We too get ours large bags ready the night before just keeping out clothes for the next day, toiletries, sleepwear, etc. that will all fit in a small roller bag or backpack that goes under the coach in a special compartment. We don't necessarily get to sleep in but at least it isn't a mad scramble.
