Buckingham Palace

On the England, Scotland & Wales tour is there a visit to Buckingham Palace included with the tour? Also what time of year is the weather best for this tour?

  • May and June. I think the Palace is only open for a few months in the summer, oty definitely need to pre book

  • In general, if your itinerary doesn't list a visit to a major attraction then it isn't going to be included. And if it says something like a tour of the city include xxx sights, that's going to be a visual of the sights possibly just from the coach.

  • The military tattoo is in August in Scotland and not to me missed. The state rooms and east wing of Buckingham are open in July, August and September. Tickets can be purchased through the Royal Collection Trust.

  • JudgJohn - I went as a solo on the ESW tour last September and the weather was delightful the entire trip. Whilst the tour actually started up in late August I missed the military tattoo in Edinburgh but that wasn’t high on my list if things to see, anyway. We didn’t have a full rainy day the whole trip, and both our coach driver and our tour director remarked how unusual that was. I lucked out! I think it’s a great time to visit since the schools are in session and most of the summer crowds have thinned out. I had no problem seeing anything. Buckingham Palace was NOT a stop on this tour, but there is some down time provided in London that you could fill with a palace tour…book through https://www.rct.uk/. Just note: if you’re interested in the special exhibit of Queen Elizabeth II’s wardrobe at the King’s Gallery at BP, FORGET IT as it’s fully sold through September. (It has been extended through to April 2027, however, and already there are limited tickets for Oct. 2026 and beyond.)
