Any newer reviews? 2025?
All of these reviews were so old. I wish Tauck would clear out anything over 5 years. The tours change and I don't trust that the opinions are still true. Has any one gone on this tour this past fall, 2025? Please share your experiences with anything you think I need to know. Clothing choices, restaurant choices, when given one, etc. We're signed up to go this year, 2026. Any restaurants near InterContinental Boston hotel for the night before the tour starts?

I can’t give you a current review but I can say that we enjoyed this tour so much that we took it again a decade later. I hope this helps somewhat.
We've never been on this tour but live in the Boston area and worked in Boston for years.
There's a Legal Seafoods in the Seaport district (really good lobster rolls) and you are within walking distance of the North End which is the Italian neighborhood. You are also close to Chinatown.
Sometime on this trip you should have New England clam chowder. Legal's is good.
Any discussion groups for Egypt/Jordan trips in 2026?
There's an Egypt and Jordan section of this forum - https://forums.tauck.com/categories/egypt-jordan
Regarding restaurants in Boston … North End - all 60 restaurants (about ) are Great . Go to Hanover st. , stroll around and pick any place . Cannot go wrong . If you have time go on a DUCK Boat Tour . A lot of fun , you will be in city streets and then in the River Charles .
Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum is a must see.
We sure would like to know more current reviews as well. Is the trip not too popular? it will be our first with Tauck.
Try using the search bar (top right corner) and type in ‘Grand New England reviews.’
It’s had bad reviews in the past and not representative of most Tauck tours
I did this tour Fall of 2024. I thought it was fine - my main objective was to see Fall colors and Maine and I did both. I think it’s hard to compare to European trips (and also hard not to if that makes any sense) because you get a lot of small town northeast US, with small town hotels and small town restaurants and small town activities. The hotels and restaurants were perfectly fine…but not the Savoy. Boston is fun if you like pre-Revolutionary War history -aka, Paul Revere history. The Breton Woods Resort was neat with some interesting history. There was a restaurant called the Purple Panther (I think 😬) in one of the towns that was quite good for an included dinner. There was some beautiful scenery, a delightful off-the-beaten-path art museum that actually made me fall in love with Renoir (surprisingly), and Maine was glorious.
P.S. clothing choices - this was a very casual, utilitarian tour. Bring some layers - we needed snow gear because we had a blizzard halfway up Mt Washington and actually had to turn back. I was there in October and it was chilly in Breton Woods but warm in Boston - t-shirts several days and sweatshirts and jackets other days.
The Omni Mount Washington in Bretton Woods also offers free tours of the hotel—not sure if they still do.
When I was there it was sort of a DIY tour - they had handouts with numbers on a map and you walked around and saw things and read about them.
Still informative, I’m sure!
It was very interesting - lots of interesting history there.
Kfnknfzk and Jane thanks so much for your input. As I mentioned we have never done a Tauck tour. We thought we would try it after many years of cruising on Regent. We were actually booked for an Ireland trip but changed to New England due to my DH having a heart attack in March ( all good so far). I was nervous about being out of the country if something were to happen. Will need to decide if we are going to go because our final payment comes up in a couple of weeks...decision, decisions.
I would recommend it - beautiful scenery, quaint small towns, interesting history and not real strenuous. Right now I still haven’t seen all I want to see in Europe and elsewhere so that has been my focus, but this is a neat part of the US and worth seeing.
PatW - All the best to your husband. I hope the two of you get to experience beautiful New England.
