Welcome to Budapest Classic vs Active

What has your experience been on the Welcome to Budapest Tour Active version? Is it very challenging - steep hills, lots of stairs, no railing leading up to Buda Castle Complex. Trying to decide between that and the Classic version so please share your experiences. This is our first Tauck River Cruise. Thank you in advance!

I looked at the itinerary on the website and can't figure out what they are talking about. We did a different cruise that included Budapest and didn't have the same excursion choices. I wouldn't worry about making a choice now. Pick one then once you are on tour you can get more information from the cruise/tour directors and make a choice. I've never had an issue changing excursions especially if they are simple things like walks

I assume you are on the Blue Danube(on the website they appear to have an error in links with the excursions choice switched on the Budapest days.) We did this in 2023, but were not two different excursion type but had the regulars and mellow yellows. Typically the active ones will be at a brisker pace which will give you more free time. You will be taken as far up Buda Hill as possible in a smaller van/bus because of the narrow streets on the way up. There may be a slight hill to climb up and down depending on where they drop you. The remainder is fairly flat. There is a small set of stairs to get to the top of the Fisherman’s Bastion which if I recall correctly had a hand rail. As Claudia suggested, sign up for one and talk with the tour directors and you can always switch. This is one of the things I like about Tauck is you can always switch in or out typically without an issue unless you are trying to switch into a bike excursion at the last minute.
