Bus Driver Tip Question
Do you tip the bus driver only on the days the bus driver actually drives you somewhere or for the entire length of the tour regardless? For example, what if the tour consistes of several days on a train or you do not see the driver at welcome reception dinner or on day of departure?

You rarely see the driver on the day you arrive and almost never on the day of departure. It’s custom to tip the driver sometime after the Tour director hints when the last time you see him will be. The driver does many things behind the scenes, filling up with gas, getting more bottled water supplies, cleaning out he bus of people’s trash, even emptying the toilet if it has been over used, which I have seen happen.
It’s up to each individual to decide what is appropriate to give, it is of course entirely voluntary to give any tip at all. We always give for the number of days of the tour, not when he drives us.
How have you tipped on previous tours with Tauck ?
I usually tip for first and last day but not for days like you mention. The classic Italy tour you leave Florence for Venice via train and don't see the driver again yet have several more tour days.
I have only ever tipped the bus driver for the days they actually drive us somewhere.
