Weather and seasonal preparedness

We are planning the Alps & Dolamites trip for June 8th , 2017. I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with the weather being a factor in seeing the sights and views in June ?
This trip is so dependent on sightseeing I just wanted to hear some feedback. Thanks !

Looking over the weather info for the tour (under the "Before You Go" section) you've got a pretty good chance for rain/overcast skies which can certainly affect views. Combine this with high altitude (I live at 7,000 ft in the mtns) and you have high odds for variable and unpredictable weather.

If you do get a response from someone who has been on this tour at the same time of year, use the info with caution. Their experience may be completely different from yours. Example, we took a Rhine river cruise last Oct at almost the exact same time as a friend did the previous year. They had great fall weather. We had rain, cold and overcast skies for most of the cruise. We've on the Seine next year at the same time it flooded this year. Am I a bit worried? Yep, but what can you do. You pay your money and hope for the best.

A day or so before departure, do a 10 day weather check for the main areas and pack a wardrobe that allows for layering.

Hope you have a great trip.

You have to remember, weather can be unpredictable and different year to year.

If you look in the Alps & Dolomites Forum (Europe >> Central and Eastern Europe >> The Ultimate Alps & Dolomites), I think you'll find some posts, including mine, on this topic that have more specifics and a few photos. We went on the June 12, 2014 A&D trip.

The weather was fine. We had real rain only once for about an hour in Oberamergau, but we were inside touring the Passion Play theater so unaffected. We had mist/fine drizzle when we visited the little town of Monstein just outside Davos, Switzerland. We were in the clouds at the top of the Zugspitze so couldn't see the surrounding mountaintops and sometimes we couldn't even see the whole mountain top lodge (there is a pic in one of the links). Evenings and mornings, especially when at altitude, were usually cool and often required a light jacket or vest. The clothes we are wearing in the photos I posted will give you a good idea of the temps/comfort level. I wore my zip-off safari pants a couple of times and used that feature.
