what to wear for the visit to Jungfraujoch

I read the suggestion that jeans, shorts, and gym shoes not be packed for this Rhine cruise. What is usually worn for the excursion to the "Top of the World"?

    Where did you read that?

The Before You Go guidance does say "During evenings aboard the riverboat, dress is resort casual. Items such as slacks and collared shirts are appropriate for men. For women, slacks, a dress or a skirt and blouse are suitable. For dinner and throughout the evening, guests should refrain from wearing shorts, t-shirts, jeans, flip-flops or sneakers. "

Day wear for touring does not have the same restrictions. Plenty of people on river cruises wear jeans, sneakers, shorts, flip flops, etc for the daily excursions depending on what's suitable for the weather, terrain, etc.

We went in July. It is pretty chilly and slippery walking through the ice tunnel. Definitely pack gloves because the handrail is very cold and a hat and scarf wouldn't be a bad idea. Layering is your best bet.

For Jungfraujoch, bring a warm jacket and gloves. It’s cold and you will be walking on ice and snow so bring the right shoes. We just returned from the tour of Switzerland and this Is a definite highlight.
