Did anyone get yellow fever vaccine ?

We will be traveling on the October 25th trip to South America. Has anyone gotten yellow fever vaccines for this same trip?

  • Yes. I rather thought you had to unless you were over a certain age and could get a waiver from your doctor. I’m not sure if they’re still hard to get. There was a shortage for a while.

  • This below is from the CDC website. I understood that you require proof of the vaccine before entering Brazil. And whereas there is normally a small chance of encountering Yellow Fever, it looks as if there is a current major outbreak.
When did you book this tour. didn’t you do any research before now? Yellow Fever shots are really difficult to find right now and Centers that have approval to give the YF vaccine are not that many either. Tauck are not responsible for people who are refused entry if they do not have proof of the required vaccinations

    What's New?

There is a large, ongoing outbreak of yellow fever in Brazil.
Vaccine availability is limited to select clinics in the United States.
    Yellow Fever in Brazil

CDC previously recommended yellow fever vaccine for many parts of Brazil (yellow areas on the map).
Because of the current outbreak, CDC now also recommends yellow fever vaccine for travelers going to the areas shown in pink on the map. This includes popular tourist destinations like Ilha Grande and the cities of Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo.
People who have never been vaccinated should avoid traveling to areas of Brazil where yellow fever vaccination is recommended.

  • Search for Stamaril Clinics

Travelers should get yellow fever vaccine at least 10 days before travel.
Because US-licensed yellow fever vaccine is out of stock, a limited number of clinics in the United States are now offering an equally safe and effective alternate vaccine, Stamaril. The nearest Stamaril clinic may be some distance away and appointments may be limited.
Use the map here to find your nearest clinic. Be sure to call and schedule well in advance.

Sorry, the maps would not copy.

  • Sounds like there may need to be a vacation before the vacation.
