Luggage requirements?

Anyone been on this trip ? Is it acceptable to take one suitcase 50 lbs ( totaling 62 inches). One carryon and one personal item? Have not gotten my informational email yet as I’m 27 days an counting. I was told not getting the usual green book they send out. Will be receiving an email with all the info.

I can’t seem to copy and paste just the luggage restrictions for your tour. If you look up the link I have pasted here, right towards the end is a section which tells you all you need to know about your luggage on tour.
Did you book this tour via a Travel Agent?

  • Interesting that there is no green book. The green books are a fairly new thing for Tauck, we used to get a collection of paperwork for the daily itinerary.

  • TAUCK Customer service said they are sending emails instead.

  • My copy/ paste works fine :

    _Carry-on Luggage - General

Although oversize bags and wheeled, carry-on luggage are popular for airline travel, they are often not convenient or appropriate for motor coach travel or for many on-tour flights. Most modern sightseeing motor coaches offer limited space for numerous or larger items. Space under seats or in the overhead rack is typically small, and designed to accommodate items like coats, hats, purses, and small camera bags, etc.

For your day-to-day travel while on tour, we recommend that you limit your hand luggage to a small, soft-sided carry-on piece, and that you bring only those items you need handy during the day such as make-up, medications, cameras, film, etc. Items too large to fit under the motor coach seat or on the overhead rack must be stored in the luggage bays beneath the motor coach, and may be inaccessible during daytime travel._

The hotel staff brings down your large bag and the bus driver will load into the storage bay under the coach. Everything else you're responsible for. As noted, the coach doesn't have overhead bins like airplanes. Your options: carry onto the bus and stash where there are empty seats or they usually set aside one storage bay under the coach for you to bring down and show the larger carry-ons. At the next hotel you pick it up and carry in.

  • Thank u sooo much. Leaving in 3 weeks and surprised no pretrip info by TAUCK.

  • On our Ireland tour I did use my underseat sized wheelie bag/carryon. That is airline underseat not coach. On travel days I got my big bag ready the night before so no matter how early the call for luggage I was ready. The wheelie bag was used for toiletries, nightwear, anything I needed to get ready that morning. Then I just wheeled it down to the bus with my daypack, tossed it in the bus compartment and got on with the daypack. I

Best of luck on a fun tour.

  • Great idea!
