Tanzanian Shillings
Should I get shillings ahead of time to take on this tour or wait until I get there? Do I really need them? i thought perhaps to shop in the markets, small shops it might be better to have shillings. Opinions and advice, please.

No , you don’t need shillings! They accept small denomination dollars in good condition. I’ve been three times and never needed them. I think everyome prefers dollars even the Masai villagers.

I had some left over Tanzania shillings in Nairobi. I could not even exchange them for Kenya shillings. They were worthless outside Tanzania.
I have a 50 billion Zambian Kawacha and could not exchange it. It was less then 10cents.
