down time day 5 @ the 4 seasons

Hello.
Does anyone recall having a free afternoon at the Four Seasons on day 5? I was told that there is only one
game drive that day and rest of the day was down time. But the rep. wasn't 100% sure.
Could someone kindly confirm either way.
Thanks

  • In 2015, we had a game drive in the morning of Day 5, then lunch back at the Four Seasons with no other activity until a safari briefing at 6 PM, so most of the afternoon free. Pretty amazing swimming pool overlooking the watering hole which is a very good option that afternoon.
  • Thanks Potolan. Yes, it looks like still the same. :))
Headed to the pool for sure. :)

Yes, a morning safari, lunch and then time for a swim in the pool and mingle with other guests. And, THEN, if it is a good day, the animals move in to the watering hole right below the infinity pool! Grab your camera and be prepared for some phenomenal photos! We had a room to the left of the watering hole and could see them coming across the plain in time to grab our cameras, run back to the swimming pool and get some great shots!!!

Be prepared for a bit of a shock- the temp was downright brisk in June!

As far as animals at the watering hole- not one single animal the entire two days! : ( There were a few Klipspringers by the raised walkway near the door to our room, however.

In 2015 on Day 4 we had an enroute game drive before arriving at the Four Seasons at around 5:00 pm, but on Day 5 we had a very early start for a long morning game drive. Our schedule showed there would be an afternoon game drive too, but the time stamp on my photos shows there wasn't one. We arrived back at the hotel sometime after noon, had a leisurely lunch, were back in our room by 2:30 pm (took a short nap?) and I was in the pool at around 5:00 pm (time stamp on photo above was 5:20).

The 2018 schedule on the website shows 2 game drives on Day 5. "Look for wildlife in the heart of the vast savanna of the Serengeti today on both morning and afternoon game drives."
Whether you have one or two game drives may depend on the season, weather, and how tired everyone looks : )

Hello. Well I couldn't resist :)) initially my plan was to do the safari next August 2019, but waiting that long will make my crazy! So.. I booked August 25th 2018! , Yes!!!!! 300.. something days away... 2018 will be a great year ! Morocco in Feb. Africa Safari in August, love it! Now about the downtime yes it looks like the afternoon will be free time , so Spa and swimming pool it's a most.
Thanks everyone for your time and info.
  • That's great Mel, lucky you found a spot. I would love it if you would post a detailed review of your tour of Morocco when you return. I haven't even looked at that tour because I just remember it has always been a hot destination for Brits in the coastal areas, I can remember several friends going in the early seventies. My sister went in the eighties and ignorantly wore skimpy clothing and I saw video of her being ogled by men in the marketplace. I've seen documentaries of the rugged inland scenery and it looks fabulous.
  • Hi, British :)
Yes, I will post a review of Morocco. I have already done my homework and it has a lot to offer... and it looks amazing!
I decided to go all the way and book both trips... It's going to amazing, cannot wait..
