Elephant Cafe...Lunch or dinner
Would love advice on whether lunch or dinner at elephant cafe. We are staying at Marriott Protea for 2 days before trip. Is that a good choice? I know others have stayed at Avani. We need two nights before gift of time.

We only stayed at the Royal Livingstone and really don't know anything about the Protea other than what the reviews say, except that it is on the south edge of the town of Livingstone and not on the river or near the Falls (13 km north of it). If there is room, despite any cost difference, I would opt for the Royal Livingstone or the Avani. Also, you'll need to transfer to the Royal Livingstone on Day 1.
Thank you AlanS. We are at the Avani and Tauck is picking us up. Also opted for lunch at Elephant Cafe and a day trip to Chobe. Thanks again.
LUNCH! you can arrive to the rest. by boat
The rest. it's excellent and the interaction with the elephants Amazing.
How do you make a reservation in advance for The Elephant Cafe? I was told online that you needed at least 3 people to make a reservation.
We are traveling Setpember 18 -30, and are trying to book a dinner reservation at The Elephant Cafe for dinner on the 18. Are there any other travelers who will be staying at the Royal Livingstone that might be interested in joining us for dinner?

My travel agent did it for me. You will also see zebras, giraffes, baboons and monkeys strolling the grounds of the Royal Livingston.
I reached out to the Royal Livingstone for assistance in booking and ended up booking through Livingstone's Adventure after a cc or two on an email chain. I can pay at the hotel upon arrival.

I was told that four people were needed in order for transportation to be provided by boat. Apparently, there are at least three others from the Royal Livingstone heading to the Elephant Cafe for lunch on the same day that I booked. And I see that the site British linked to shows a minimum of 2 passengers for transport by boat. So who knows?!
