February VCT trip vaccine requirements

My husband and I are on this trip and were wondering about ALL the vaccines recommended by CDC - are they really necessary- seems like the activities aren’t anything dangerous and the hotels are first class. Would prefer not to have to do all these. Any thoughts ?

  • You do visit a few rural places in all three countries, but recommended vaccines are just that. I tend to take the safer approach and get any vaccines recommended by the CDC for the places that we visit. Sometimes vaccines are recommended only for parts of a country that you don't visit.

  • What vaccines are you talking about? Most vaccines the CDC recommend, every American should have them under their belt whether they travel or not.

  • CDC lists the routine vaccines we all get as children/adults. The others were Hep A and B, encephalitis, malaria, rabies, , typhoid and yellow fever. We decided to make an appointment with our local hospitals travel office and take it from there.

  • Yes, SandiOOB, one should always confer with their healthcare professional before any inoculation. She/he knows your medical history and can alert you to possible side effects and/or adverse drug interactions. Just my opinion based on personal experience. Nonetheless, enjoy your tour and please consider posting a review afterwards.

  • Sandy, good plan. Note malaria prevention is not a vaccine.

  • On the CDC web site, you need to look at specific locations within each country.

I'm in Vietnam now. Had Hep and typhoid for previous trips. Not doing malaria or YF. Did bring bug spray (and sunscreen). It's been surprisingly unbuggy so far, but still in the north where temps are in the 70s.
