Plastic bags

I am a little confused about the zip lock bag issue in Tanzania and Kenya. Could someone please explain?

  • While at one time, Tauck specified no ziplock bags, our final documents specifically say they are ok. We will have our liquids in the allowed ones if we want to carry them in hand liggage in case we have to take them out, but otherwise are taking ‘dry bags’ incase our swimsuits are still wet when we have to pack between lodges. Our laundry bags are that paper-like material but cubes are a good idea too. Shoes can get dirty or muddy, we have the shoe bags you buy on line and also have accumulated lots of the bags that Qatar gives you pajamas in when in business class, they are the perfect size for a pair of shoes, that is what my husband uses and although they are also that paper type, they launder well and can keep being used.

  • They don't want you to bring any of the cheap plastic bags that the US uses in many stores because they don't decompose and blow all over the country, which you will see.

  • Back in 2019 we were not allowed any plastic bags, the kind you get in grocery stores etc. for Tanzania and Kenya.
