Tipping Guidelines
I've read some conflicting material provided by Tauck on tipping. Is it customary to tip your Tour Director in Ireland? Are there any other tips I should plan for?

When you get your final documents, you will see a section that talks tips and who you need to tip. On most land tours, it is usually the Tauck tour director and the driver, but sometimes it is just the tour director. A guideline of how much to tip per PERSON per day is suggested, this has slowly gone up over the years.
Where are you reading conflicting material? On land tours with Tauck is it customary to tip both the Tour Director and the coach driver. Your final tour documents will give you the appropriate amount. After you make your final payment for the tour, a link will be sent to you in an email. Click on the link and it will open up a pdf document. That document will also be available on the Tauck website in your account. It will likely be $12 per person per day for the TD and $8 for the driver. The tips that are included in you tour are the local tour guides, the driver that transports you from/to the airport, hotel staff (unless you ask for something more than just luggage handling or serving you a Tauck provided meal). Tipping in Ireland - like most of Europe - isn't the big requirement that it is in the US.
Thank you.
When we did Best of Ireland several years ago the driver situation was a bit unique. Our main driver was required to take mandatory crew rest in the middle of the tour. During that time another driver was provided. Tauck handled the tip for the temp driver while we handled the tip for the main driver for the first and last part of the tour.
