Extensive Excursion Choices
The excursion options opened up for our Jun cruise. It's only an 8 day cruise - 6 actual tour days. Excursions needed to be selected for 5 of the 6 days. Big change from our past river cruises where there were no options to pick ahead of time or only a couple. There were different options of what to see, which city to visit and a couple of ebike adventures. It will be interesting to see whether Tauck still gives some flexibility to change our choices once the tour starts and we have better info on what's involved, the daily schedules, weather, etc.
The hardest choices for me we Bruges vs Ghent and Rotterdam vs Leiden. We opted for Ghent because of their warning there is a minimum 3 mile walking required for Bruges since the coaches aren't allowed near the center anymore. Also I wanted to see the Ghent altarpiece. We're hoping that the Leiden excursion gets us back to the ship early afternoon for a chance to go see some of Rotterdam on our own before the ship departs. Of course as the famous Beatles quote goes, "Life is what happens to you while you're busy making other plans.”

On our upcoming small ship cruise we got our notification to choose options, we did not get to it for one or two days and one option said ‘full!’ Fortunately it was not one we wanted
Claudia the Ghent Altarpiece is magnificent, on one of my river cruises I did a tour with Viator to both Bruges and Ghent, it was so much worth it, at that time Tauck was not offering either of them, I think it was the Brussels to Amsterdam river cruise.
