Trying to find anyone interested in a wine tour for 8/26 around Cape Town

Hi. My husband and I are trying to find 1-2 couples interested in sharing a wine tour with Cape Fusion. If that appeals to you, please contact us. I’m going to email them right now, to hopefully get a price for either 2 people, or 4 people. Thanks. Alice.

  • It’s a long time since we took this tour but there was a visit to a vineyard and dinner included then. It was a disaster, we had only just been served dessert when the Tour director wanted to get us all back on the bus.
Also take into consideration that the vines may be bare as it is winter there.

  • Thanks British. Good point about the vines, we hadn’t thought of that. We’d been planning on going to Robben Island, but it’s closed while we’re there 🙁.

  • One other question, Who were you touring with, that it wasn’t such a great experience ?

  • Hi, Tillyseattle! We were on the Elegant Adventure tour in 2022 and had a great experience at the restaurant in Constantia. I’m not sure if it’s the same winery/restaurant that British went to (I suspect not but can’t say for sure), but if it was the same, they must have worked out any kinks because it went seamlessly and the food was excellent. I do want to point out though that it is not the same as the Winelands, and you go for dinner so you don’t really get to see a lot of scenery. One of our friends who was traveling with us thought the Tauck winery dinner was in the Winelands (i.e. Stellenbosch, Paarl, Franschhoek regions) and was sorry she hadn’t done the pre-tour with us when she saw our photos. We did go in October though (their spring), so I’m not sure how the scenery may vary in their winter. But the Cape Winelands district is mountainous and very scenic. One winery set up a private picnic table just for us overlooking the vineyards and mountains. It was just a fun, relaxing day. We loved our tour with Cape Fusion. They will cater the tour and stops to your interests. Enjoy!!!

  • Thanks so much. I’ve sent cape fusion a message. Now if we can just find 2 more travelers to join us 🤞.

  • Ah, I meant it was just the dinner that was disappointing. We loved the rest of the tour with Tauck. What is the reason Robben Island is closed, is it because the seas are more rough at that time of year? Hope you find someone else to go with.
You know, Cape Town has lots of interesting sites to see that Tauck does not take you to, after all, a vineyard and winery are pretty much the same anywhere.

  • We recently did the Cape Fusion Wine tour before our Tauck tour started. Our friends had to cancel last minute, but since I had already paid, we chose to keep our reservation for just the two of us. We had a lovely time visiting the Stellenbosch Region. Tauck takes you to a dinner in Constantia, but we did not get to see much of it other than the drive to dinner. The grounds and boutique hotel are beautiful and I believe Tauck is going to use it as a place to stay in its new 9 night tour of South Africa. I thought the dinner was great with wine pairings along with each course. We definitely had plenty to drink and the food was very good. It's a different experience than visiting Stellenbosch though. That was more like visiting Napa or other wine areas where you visit multiple wineries. Stellenbosch is a great little town to walk and have lunch. Cape Fusion can help with the details based on your interests.

  • British, Robben island is closed for maintenance just when we’re there.

  • What a shame, it’s very interesting. Often rough seas and there was a ferry disaster some years ago. The trip can get cancelled because of that. When we did this tour, Robben Island was included. The tour has changed quite a bit since then, example, Kirstenbosch gardens is included now but it wasn’t when we went. We had to do that on our own the day before the tour started. One of the complimentary Cape Grace limos took us there and back.
Weatherwise, when we went to Cape Town on the Botswana, Zambia, South Africa tour, our whale watching was canceled due to rough seas, so they took us to the Penguins again, so that was a win win as far as we are concerned.
Cape Town is a favorite city for us.

  • Hi again, what are a few of your favorite activities in Cape Town ? We’re not sure if it’s going to work with Cape Fusion. Anything else we can focus on ? We are very interested in history / museums. We do have a 3 hour private walking tour scheduled, but nothing else so far. Thanks for any suggestions.

  • Try the District Nine museum
So you can match your interests, try googling Things to see and Do in CapeTown

  • Tilly, I loved the Zeitz Museum in CapeTown. It is contemporary African art, but the name may have changed since I was there in early 2020. There is also an aquarium on the waterfront that I did not visit. If you like shopping, Tribal Trends on Long Street is excellent. I second British about the District Nine Museum; it moved me to tears.

  • Thanks ladies, for the suggestions ! I’ll check them out.

  • Wow ! I just googled District six museum. I’m looking forward to it, excellent suggestion for us ! Again, many thanks !

  • Whoops, I obviously meant Six. It was included with a Tauck tour we took, we had a local guide who lived it.

  • The Aquarium is worth a visit. We timed our visit to coincide with penguin feeding, as indicated on the website.
We also utilized the hop on hop off bus. At the time of our visit, there were two routes.

When I went in 2012 Robben Island was included but the District 6 Museum was not. Cape Grace hotel provided a car that drove me there, it is incredibly interesting, I also went to St. Michael's church very close to the Museum.

I also booked a tour with Viator and visited several vineyards with wine tastings, Stellenbosch, Soxenburg, Rickety Bridge and Labarie, had lunch at one of them, the tour also took us to Paarl, it was a long day.

Robben's Island is a must to visit, I'm sorry it's closed.
