We have extra days in Prague and Budapest- any ideas for day trips, etc? that aren't covered by Tauck. Looking at artist village and vineyards in Budapest. We love food, wine, culture

So we could choose the Salzburg excursion option while on tour, we used a pre-stay for a day trip w/guide to Cesky Krumlov (which was the other option on the day we went to Salzburg.) We also did a walking tour of the Jewish Quarter.

You could Google Things to see and Do in both cities or look at what Viator has to offer for ideas.

Budapest: Take in one of the thermal spas. Go to a concert at a historic venue(Classictic.com). Walk across the Chain Bridge and walk along the Danube to see the Shoes of the Danube Memorial. Do a food tour(don’t have recommendation) and/or walk through the public market which is close to where the ship docks.

Prague: The choices are limitless. Take in an evening concert and then a night stroll across the Charles Bridge. Look at Prague Walkers Tours. The Tauck tours do not include the Lesser Town, Charles Bridge, Wenceslas Square or much of the Castle Complex. We took the Castle Town tour which was 4 hours and covered the majority of the castle town and castle complex. You can have them skip the monastery libraries since the Tauck tours actually lets you go into the rooms. For a more modern history lesson try the Velvet revolution tour and tour the communist museum. You take also tour on your own the town hall which allows you to see the astronomical clock workings and has great views of the city. Buy the lift ticket to take you to the top. If you want to travel outside of Prague you can go to Kutna Hora or Terezin, Prague Walkers does both. If you are into Beer, day trip to Pilsner or try the Spa Beerland.

For the Palace dinner in Prague do not wear heels because you wont make it across the cobbles. If you must have heels, carry them and switch into them at the Palace. The Palace dinner in Vienna is one of the more dressier events. I would say a blazer for men is preferred.

    Have a fabulous trip
