We got ours yesterday. From the pictures I thought they were black. Glad to see they are green. I don't think they're all that heavy but won't use on checked bags due to concerns about them getting caught in the conveyor belts at airports. Will likely use on hand carry bags for ID.
Claudia … you had me going. I looked at those tags under three different sources of light. Mine are definitely black. Perhaps they sent out different colors, In any case I like them. The ID script is a little difficult to get out, but that is not important,
Ours are dark green, which is a Tauck color. I’m not sure I will use them, think my husband might use one of his.
I was concerned that it might be tricky to get the ID out and also make our bags stand out as potentially worth taking at certain small third world airports where Tauck is known as having well off customers.
We have Shutterfly tags with our photos on which identity us with our bags and when others on our tour see them, they think they are great and want to know where we got them from. When a routing tag was missing from one of our bags one time between flights, an agent took a photo of the tag and was able to find us in the lounge from that, so we did not lose our bag.
So if bags with Tauck tags get mislaid, it’s not going to be easy to get an address tag out. Bizarre!
This tags are lovely but might do better just as a fancy accessory rather than something with your name and address.
I agree with you British. I don’t like to stand out while my luggage is being transported through the airlines as I am traveling with a high-end travel company i.e. Tauck.
I am currently on the Tuscany/Umbria and then next week Puglia tour and having an extremely delightful time.
After having lost several tags to the luggage machines and handlers over the years, I now use a luggage tag that's clear plastic with a metal grommet, affixed to the handle with a thin, stranded steel cable. Haven't lost one of those yet!
I'm not worried about losing the tag but about damage to the bag if it gets caught in something. When Tauck used to mail the paper luggage tags ahead of time they encouraged people to go ahead and put them on their bags. I did this one time and the bag arrived with the paper tag gone. Just the little elastic loop left. Our checked bags all have ID labels in slots on the side of the bag and are fairly easy to access.
The reason I tag my hand carry bag stems from our first land tour TD who had years of experience which included guest putting a bad down in a hotel lobby, the bus, sights, etc. A tag helps you get reunited with it. The person finding the bag might not bother to look at the hard to access written info but the Tauck logo will give them a clue to give it to a Tauck TD.

Sealord, I guess I wasn't imagining things. Ours are definitely green. My husband used needle nose pliers to pull out the little piece of paper.

Here's what the green tags look like.
