September 10-22, 2025 Kenya and Tanzania: fellow travelers

I would really appreciate hearing from others going on this safari. I am considering going alone as my husband may not be able to join me. I am apprehensive about going alone and would love to connect with anyone else going on this amazing trip.

When we did this tour, there was a woman traveling alone. She was always included. She never ate alone or sat alone. It's an amazing trip.

  • I have traveled to Africa with Tauck as a solo guest. Tauck took very good care of me. Everyone was friendly. I felt safe and protected. I hope you do go and have a wonderful experience.

  • Sandyfeet: and itskr thank you so much for your response! I truly appreciate hearing about your experiences.

  • All’meals are taken together so that makes it easy too.

  • We begin our Classic K&T Safari on 9/19. We are so excited for this bucket list trip, but have also been closely following the political unrest in Kenya. Has anyone that's very recently been experienced any issues or concerns? Thank you so much!

  • Stay in the Tauck ‘bubble’ and you will be fine.

  • If Tauck is doing the tour then you should have nothing to worry about.

  • What Sealord said…

  • I will offer a little more. In Arusha, stay with the Tauck group or an organized tour. In Nairobi, don’t leave the hotel. The doorman will probably shoo you back inside if you try to go for a walk. Forget about the Karen Blixen house. We had a TD once who lived in Nairobi and lived near the Blixen house. He said it was not worth the bother. There is a new highway to the airport in Nairobi that makes the trip much less exciting and much shorter. The airport is still a disaster. I would love to do Africa for a sixth time, but I think we are beyond that. I did ‘long’ international flights for a living as a pilot, but I was younger then.

  • Off topic. I have distant, and I mean distant relatives that fled Eastern Europe during WW2 and ended up in Nairobi. He built the synagogue in Nairobi. About 5 years ago, I made contact with his son who lives in NY.

  • Ten years ago I flew into the Nairobi airport from Amsterdam. It was not a Tauck tour, and it was not a pleasant experience. I do wish , however, that I had known about the Giraffe Hotel. That is right up my animal loving alley.
