Grand Australia & New Zealand Oct 18, 2025 - Nov 6, 2025 - Anyone Going?
Don and Trudy Anderson from Boise, Idaho here - We are looking forward to the trip and meeting fellow travelers! Tauck has informed us that we travelers are open for a dinner on our own October 25 in Sydney. We'd love to book a reservation for 2 or 3 couples. Anyone interested? Any suggestions for dinner in mind? We're thinking of contacting the Hotel for recommendations of restaurants.

going on October 27 trip; anyone else going? luggage question: the carry on size limit of 20 inches (including wheels) seems to rule out taking carry-ons that most people already use for domestic US travel, which are about 23 or 24 inches. thoughts?
Other country airlines are much stricter than in the US.
I did this trip pre-pandemic and it is still one of my favorites! I went on line early and got tickets for the ballet at the Sydney Opera House for the night we were there and that really made it special - hotel was a short walk from there. You're gong to have a great trip - but ALOT of food HA - like many of Tauck's trips!
It’s some years since we took the trip. Tauck made a significant change without telling us, so that we had one totally free day instead of two free half days and it messed up our original plans. This has happened a few times so it makes us reluctant to book significant things within a tour…though of course it’s easy to cancel a restaurant reservation as opposed to having bought tickets in advance for something.
We did see a performance at the Opera house which was great. The accoustics are wonderful.
I had booked tickets to the opera in Sydney, like British said the acoustics are wonderful. Walking to the Opera House from the the hotel there were many places to have dinner, sitting outside within view of the Opera House.
I had a light supper at the bar on the lower level of the Opera House before attending a performance of "Evita." (I had seen it already, but wanted the experience of attending something at the Opera House.)
I booked tickets for Rent at the Opera House and pre-theatre dinner at Aria nearby for what was supposed to be our free night on our tour next month. We got an email a week or so ago that our free night was switched and we now have an included dinner at a local restaurant on that night. I’ll just tell the TD we’re skipping the included dinner.
I've never had issues getting tickets and having things change...but I usually do it when I arrive a day or two early. Of course, for this trip we started in Melbourne....I guess maybe I've just been lucky. Having said that, I do feel like they used to be better about telling us up front when we had free time in the schedule and now I feel like I have to guess. I am more reluctant to get tickets ahead of time which can make free time difficult.
To avoid itinerary changes, through no fault of Tauck’s, we always use pre/post tour days for those activities/events requiring advance ticketing, especially something as memorable as a performance in such a grand setting.
Dottie D - Have a wonderful evening!
Thanks kfn, I’m sure we will. Sydney is a week into our tour so we couldn’t have done it pre or post. Also, it’s my partner’s birthday that night. I did look into switching nights of the performance, but it’s dark on what’s now the free night. Missing the included dinner is unfortunate nut not tragic.
Dottie, if the dinner is not a group dinner, maybe the TD could switch the free dinner for you. It’s not unreasonable to ask since Tauck changed the itinerary so near your departure date and would expect travellers to maybe organize somewhere special in their own time such as a Sydney Opera house performance
Dottie - I look forward to hearing about your journey and your evening at the opera. I was last in Australia ~ fifty (50) years ago. It wasn’t exactly a Tauck experience! Have fun.
Dottie - I agree with British, talk to the TD about that night and see what they can do for you.
