Crown Jewel Switzerland Weather - 7/10 trip

We are heading out on the 8th for the the 7/10 trip... a friend's son and granddaughters live there year round and just told her that the weather there has been unusually humid and rainy.
So small umbrellas, rain jacket are being packed with the hope that they will act as insurance and we won't need them!!!!

  • Since your trip is over or soon to be concluding, what was your weather experience? I am going on the 8/10 trip... Thank you!

  • going July2027 so would like info on the weather that time of year in Switzerland - doing the "week in..." trip.

  • Best site for weather info like this is WeatherSpark. It contains text and a full range of easy to interpret graphic info.

  • I was there in July 2026. Had a mix of warm weather in the lakes and rain in Zermatt. Bring layers and a light rain jacket. Much colder at the high altitudes. Hats and gloves really helped, along with more layers.

  • July and August are typically the warmest months, particularly at lower elevations. A versatile, mix and match wardrobe that can be layered works best in my opinion. Add a light rain jacket, preferably one with a removable lining and hood and you will be prepared for virtually anything.

On a sad note, I have seen several documentaries on how Switzerland is warming at twice the rate of any other country across the globe as a result of climate change.

  • Weather is so hard to predict these days. Always best to take layers.

  • We went in early Sep and it was warm at the Italian end (like wearing capris and short sleeves) but I definitely needed layers, a warm coat, hat/gloves on top of Jungfraujoch. It's really hard to predict. Most of the dining was pretty casual (nice slacks and top) so you can focus on having some options to adjust to the weather. A roomy packable rain jacket that lets you add layers underneath is useful.
