Went in September and the water conditions were not noticeable on the ship. No one on the ship had any seasickness. That said the water conditions did impact one days excursions. The ship was unable to moor the day that was intended for a visit to the Blue Grotto. The ship went directly to Malta, one day early.
I did that tour/cruise back in 2018. Everything was fine until the last day when the ship couldn't leave Sicily to go to Malta. That was a problem because everyone had flights out of Malta. Tauck chartered a plane that took us to Malta.
We did the drive along the Amalfi Coast when we did the Classic Italy tour - it was a beautiful drive, but yes, on narrow roads with hairpin turns. We also did the Rome, Amalfi Coast, Sicily and Malta tour. We did the boat tour along the Amalfi Coast that time. I don't think you could go wrong with either one, but I would rate the boat tour a little higher than the drive. The first picture is from when we did the drive. The other two pictures are from the boat tour. Enjoy your trip - we loved our time in Sicily.
The drive was included on our Classic Italy tour and yes it's narrow and windy. We had a smaller than usual coach for it and a driver that had to have the right kind of license to drive that road. At one point our coach had to stop because some car had caused a jam around a tight turn. Our driver got out to direct traffic to get things going again. Got back in our coach driving down the road bitching about it and gesturing with one hand in a very Hollywood stereotypical Italian way. Hilarious.
It was lovely though early in the day so photos were a bit overcast/hazy.
I also went on that drive during the Classic Italian tour, lots of Dramamine for me as I have motion sickness. I was able to enjoy the drive and take pictures.

We didn't see much of Malta because of that. https://www.mikeandjudytravel.com/2018Sicily-01.htm
Other than that, the weather and the seas were fine.
Do you recommend the boat tour on amalfi coast or the drive up the coast? I heard the road is narrow and windy.

We did the trip called Treasures of the Mediterranean Islesl It was quite good. It started in Marseille and ended up in Malta.
