Travel Advisories for K&T
We are going on the K&T Classic Safari on 10/5/26 and I made the mistake of signing up my wife and I for the travel advisories thru the State Department. They have the threat levels at a 2 for Kenya and 3 for Tanzania. Unfortunately, my wife is ready to cancel our trip based on these. Any suggestions for assuaging her fear would be greatly appreciated.

Belgium, France, Germany and Italy are also Level 2 threat levels. Would she think twice about going to those countries?
You'll be in the Tauck bubble.
Agree with Goddess! The US is currently at a Level 2.
Immerse yourselves in lovely classic movies made in Africa......"Born Free," "Out Of Africa," "The Gods Must Be Crazy." This may take her mind off of current world affairs.
Tauck has a Global Response Team and wouldn't take their guests in harms way. Enjoy Africa, it's the BEST!
That’s normal numbers for those countries. We have been to both countries several times. Our problem right now if would be if we were going is that we normally fly thru Doha in Qatar, so we would have to change to Delta/KLM via Amsterdam. Can we go with you!
Thanks all! We are flying thru Nairobi direct from JFK on Kenya Air. I’ll let you know how I make out with my better half.
We are going on the K&T Classic Safari on July 24. We changed our flights (previously connecting in Doha) to Delta/KLM via Paris.
I will try and remember to return to this post and give you an update on our adventure.
Thanks Tripple! Enjoy!
We are thinking about this trip early next year, and my wife has same concerns about level 3, but I believe this does not pertain to the northern area of Tanzania where the safaris are. I do have a question about vaccines. Supposedly going from Kenya to Tanzania yellow fever vaccine is required, with us older people being exempt. Has this been an issue for anyone?
If you read through previous posts on this forum, you will see discussions of the yellow fever vaccine. The following is what the Tauck website states:
Although Yellow Fever vaccination is not a Tauck requirement, guests are strongly advised to bring proof of vaccination or, if unable to receive the vaccine, a doctor's note explaining the reason (especially for entry into Kenya). Please be aware that vaccination requirements can change, so staying up to date is essential. If you have been vaccinated, please bring your proof of vaccination, which can usually be obtained from your physician. If you cannot receive the vaccine due to age, medical conditions, or other reasons, please bring a medical exemption letter from your doctor explaining why the vaccine was not administered
You should talk to your doctor as has been said here by people who do not know who they are talking to ‘ and don’t know anything about them. Age is necessarily a barrier against getting the vaccine. If there is an outbreak while you are there, you may be refused entry or hav3 ht3 local people give you a shot and wait days until it is effective.
