I used Visa Central to obtain 10 year visas to China for myself and my wife. The basic charge was $69/person for Visa Central, but China charges $140/person (plus 6.9% processing fee), and there was a charge for express shipping of the passports back to me. Adding it all up, it was a bit under $500 for the two of us.
The China visas were fairly complex so I was glad to have an organization like Visa Central to handle it. The African visas may be less complex.
I just want to insert a note of caution with Visa Central. Make sure that you check your visas carefully. I've used their services twice and won't do so again. I don't remember the details of one of the problems (which was for my Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos trip with Tauck) but the other was that they gave me a 7 day visa, when I was going to be in Egypt (with a Tauck competitor) for parts of 8 days. I'm not saying don't use them -- just be careful.
All Visa Central does is hold your hand. You have to give them exactly the same information you would provide doing the the visa yourself. They are a waste of money. The visa websites can be a bit twitchy but with a little patience you will save a lot of money doing it yourself.
