Cost of Vaccines
This is our first visit to Africa so the whole vaccine thing is new to us. I checked with a local Travel Clinic (Jacksonville, FL) that was recommended by my primary physician to get the details on the recommended vaccines for Tanzania and Kenya as well as the related costs. Obviously these may vary by vendor/area in the US:
Hepatitis A shot $120
Typhoid shot $220
Tetanus $80
Yellow Fever shot $340
Fortunately my health insurance covers the Hep A and Typhoid which was administered at a local CVS pharmacy.
We both have had the Tetanus shots within the past 10 years so no problem there.
The Yellow Fever shot is not available except for the JAX Travel Clinic.
While all these shots may not be required, we decided to play it safe.

Since we've been through this before, we are good for Africa this summer.
The Yellow Fever is a life-time vaccination, so you'll be set for any future trips to Africa because many countries there require the shot.
Not sure why the typhoid injection was recommended, versus the pills. The oral dosage is 4 pills, one every other day. The advantage, besides not getting stuck, is the oral vaccine lasts 5 years and the injection only 2 years.

Once again British is correct. Some Costcos also give those injections.
That's why one's own research is so important.
Many local hospitals have travel cliniics. Our local hospital (easternMA) has one with much better prices than commercial clinics
BKMD, I am not aware of any yellow fever “pills”. Are you able to share more information?
SHCMD - I was referring to the typhoid vaccine, not YF.

Friends use GoodRx to reduce cost; my Part D covers my shot at $0 copay. Just make sure to get it at a network pharmacy so they bill Part D directly — travel clinics often aren't in-network and you'll pay out of pocket
For us convenience and one stop for all the vaccinations was best served by Travel clinic that is 5 minutes from where we live.Yellow fever vaccine was not available in Costco.Luckily,I was able to recover all the costs from my HSA!Many ways to get the job done ;most important is to get all the shots/pills needed to minimize the chance of getting sick!
