Laundry availability
Hello to all. We're doing the Australia / New Zealand tour later this year. What are the laundry possibilities available for this long trip? Thanks.

When we took this tour, we did a load of wash at Silky Oaks, which had a self service laundry room. You may wish to check their website to see whether that is still true.
We did the same as Lotusgirl - but everyone on the trip had the same idea!
RKJ this is fortunately a trip with 3 laundry possibilities, as far as I recall. Sily Oaks is one (but in 2024 the dryers did not work so well, and it's a humid environment), and I believe Te Anau had 2 sets of washers and dryers (have your laundry in a bag ready to go as soon as you arrive and it was coin operated; they will have coins to sell you at the desk. I believe it was 2 NZD worth for each at the time.) Also in Sydney, there is a same day laundry across the street from the hotel that charged something like 40 dollars for a sack. It was a great service. We dropped off our clothes before breakfast and picked them up around 4 pm. The TD can tell you where it is.
Hopefully others will have additional updates.
Good luck with washers in New Zealand. On our North and South tour there was an hotel with three washers and three driers. On woman bagged all three and this was only about five days in. As I had sorted our small wash, and decided to go for it even though we barely need to do la wash on a tour, I was determined to get a washer so sat on the floor and waited. Yep, crazy
When I did this trip (~10 years ago), the TD arranged a group walk (1-2 blocks), for those interested, from the hotel to a small laundry run by a Chinese woman. It was priced by the bag (very reasonable) and ready the next day.
Our TD arranged for Wash on the Rocks in Sydney to pick up and deliver to our hotel. It was a very reasonable price by the bag.
We took this tour last October/November. Silky Oaks had self serve or fill a bag for 40 AUS. Another opportunity to fill a bag in Sydney. I think the same price. Te Anua self serve. And a laundromat near the hotel in Queenstown.
