Laptop computers and iPads

I'll be going on the K &T tour departing December 2 with my family (we are two adults and two children, ages 12 and 13). This trip is one part of a longer trip we're taking to several countries that spans two months. Because we'll be on a long journey, we need to take at least one laptop with us, as well as a couple of iPads, so the kids can do school work from afar and also so my husband and I can do some work on our off days between adventures. This is a long way of saying that leaving our laptop/iPads at home are not an option (I'd do that if we were ONLY going on safari).

So my question is this: is this going to be problematic? Will we be able to have these things with us in our backpacks at all times? I understand the internet connections will be unreliable--I'm not so worried about that. I just want to feel assured it's reasonable to think we can keep our computers/iPads safe and secure while on this trip.

Any insight from those who've done this tour would be appreciated. Thank you!

    No problem. As you noted internet will be at best ok and worst, non-existant. With that many devices you will want to ensure that you have plenty of adapter plugs. (you won't need a voltage converter, unless the laptop is 110V only- most are now dual voltage- 100V/220V. The power outlets in the rooms/tents will all be 220V)

    Instead of multiple adapter plugs, many of us use one adapter and a small travel multi-outlet power strip like the 4-outlet one from Monster/Amazon below, so we can plug multiple devices in at one time using a single outlet- outlets in the rooms/tents will be limited.

    In addition, I see no reason to have your computer and iPads in your backpacks while you are on Safari, the tented camp ones are so remote that if they are stolen there will only a few people it could have been who took them. I leave my mini iPad in my tent, in a bag but not locked and I have no worries

    I have a related question. Is it possible to bring a reasonably sized daypack/backpack on the jeeps? I am planning on using one to carry my camera equipment and a few incidentals like a light jacket.

Rich Text Editor. To edit a paragraph's style, hit tab to get to the paragraph menu. From there you will be able to pick one style. Nothing defaults to paragraph. An inline formatting menu will show up when you select text. Hit tab to get into that menu.
