"Been There" Virtual Travel Quiz? Round #100- The last one for now.

edited April 2020 in General

From AlanS. I think this is a good time for a pause, at least for me. Thanks to all for your support.

If someone wants to take over as moderator, that is fine, just let me know via PM. Some of you already know how to do this stuff, but I will help anyone who doesn't, get up to speed.

There may be other ways to do it, but I essentially use a copy and paste process from MSWord. I do the scripting in MSWord because my laptop or the forum (?) won’t allow the special Markdown language codes I use for color, italics, bolding, links, etc. to be copied from one round to another, and it just makes it simpler for me.

See below for my final submission.

See Round #20 for info about and rules for the contest.

Round #97 won by BKMD with assist from JohnS
Submitted by Kathy M. People riding the motorized walkway that provided sliders an easy trip back to the top of the glacier sliding hill on Mt. Titlus in Switzerland. Tour?

Round #98 won by JohnS
Submitted by AlanS. Kolbensattelbahn, Alpine coaster, Oberammergu, Germany. Romantic Germany tour.

Round #99 won by AlanS
Submitted by JohnS. Pont du Gard Aqueduct over the Gardon River, in Nimes, France! This is on top of the Aqueduct which can only be accessed by taking some steep stairs and a very strenuous climb. It is locked to the general public but Tauck was able to get us access with an escort. Most did not do this but I decided to do it and lost 2 pounds in the process. The pictures were taken on the Savoring France river cruise.

Round #100 (my final round for now)

What is this nice building and what is done there?
Where is it and what lovely Woods surround it?

Hint: it is north of the Equator. :D

  • Tauck HQ?

  • and?

  • Tauck HQ in Wilton Woods, Wilton, CT

  • Round of applause to Alan S for this wonderful diversion to Covid 19. Here’s to good health and lots of travel for everyone in the future.

  • Indeed it is Tauck HQ in the Wilton Woods Corporate Campus in Wilton, CT. Tauck moved there in January 2016. Check out these links for photos of the inside and info about the building and company. Between the people and the work environment, it is no wonder Tauck has been voted "Best Place to Work" in CT on more than one occasion.

Looks like a great place to works. Lets hope they get to do so just as soon as is safe.

And, yes, many thanks to AlanS for this diversion and the virtual travel!

  • Thanks, Alan. It has been enjoyable.

Yes, thanks Alan. Been a fun diversion.

Nice finale photo, however, you violated your own rules, as I don't believe there's a tour that stops there. :)

And I can imagine the Tauck (socially distanced) board meeting next week - We had a big drop in site visits from last week. What's going on?

Thanks Alan, you made it to #100. I read all of them, had fun, and learned so much from you and all the others. Well done!!

  • Thanks Alan. It was fun.

    Happy Trails

  • Thanks Alan and everyone who has participated.

Currently I have been researching the development of virtual youth & family camp programs for elementary, middle school and high school students.

Alan's format for a "virtual Tauck tour" demonstrated a format that allowed many participants to select the destination and others to experience the journey through reflection, research and humor with immediate social interaction and discussion via posted comments.

Our Tauck "community" and our camp communities have a lot in common.

  • Thanks Alan, I enjoyed the diversion and found some wonderful places to visit with Tauck perhaps sometime in the future. Take care.

  • Thanks, Alan. You made the times spent indoors keeping social distancing really enjoyable.

If people are considering tours for the future, they could post questions to open a discussion like we had about the Canadian Capitals tour. It would give us a way to speak about places we enjoyed visiting without depending upon one person to devote a large amount of time to keeping a forum like this going.

  • I want to add my thanks to Alan. I enjoyed seeing all the photos, reliving some trips, and getting ideas for future trips (fingers crossed!).

  • I also want to say thank you Alan. All the pictures everyone has posted have given me some new places to visit for my bucket list.

  • Thanks folks! Hopefully there were others, besides the two dozen or so who actively participated, who had a chance to enjoy, learn, and live vicariously through our photos and descriptions. The view count would suggest that may have happened. As some of you might have noticed by my round summary postings, I enjoyed doing additional research on many of these places and I know I came away with some ideas for the future, whenever that finally arrives. :)

  • Thanx Alan. This has been great. If Tauck was still "anointing" forum members with titles you'd certainly be an Ambassador.
