Travel adapters for Kenya & Tanzania
We are going on Kenya & Tanzania: A Classic Safari in the end of July. The standard voltage in USA is 110V. We would appreciate your advice on travel adapters to buy for Kenya and Tanzania.

Most of your small electronic devices (phone, tablet, camera battery, etc.) chargers will work on both 110 or 220, but, unless they are special, dual voltage, curling irons and blow dryers will not and if you try to use one it will fry!!!
Thank you for the information!
I'm reading on Reddit /Tanzania forum that rarely does anyone comes across type D. We're on the Kenya/Tanzania Classic Safari this October. I have several type G, supposedly the common British adapter, and if I don't need to buy another type I'd rather skip it. Anyone that can confirm they've run into type D on their trip(s)?

I can’t recall, but they are so cheap, I’d have one just in case. We are taking both with us on our upcoming tour.
Thanks for your reply British. Yes, they're inexpensive but if not needed why bring it. Folks living there rarely see this type of plug and usually only in the older homes vs modern hotels.
We certainly saw them in some of the hotels when we first went in 2007 but can’t recall when we have been since.we take both. Tauck stays in more hotels than camps these days. We leave for Tanzania on Friday on the Bridges tour and we haven’t been to any of the current hotels/ camps. But we do know that one camp has no electricity at night and charging stations in the main area. You can get an adapter that converts to many different types of plugs so takes up no more room than one single specific one.
If you plan on traveling to South Africa in the future, they use the three round pin plugs.
