Important Tip Leela Palace Great Diver
We're leaving this beautiful hotel tomorrow and want to share a helpful tip. We arrived early and booked a hotel taxi through the Concierge. We highly recommend Mohan Chand - he was honest, friendly, and an excellent driver. The hotel's rate is very reasonable, and he will wait for you. For instance, we went to Indian Accent, an amazing restaurant; he waited the entire time and drove us back to the hotel for just 2000 rupees each, about $40. We felt secure knowing he was waiting. The next day, we visited the National Museum and Kahn Market, and the following day, the Modern Art Museum, with him driving and waiting during our visits. We also gave him an additional tip, and he was very grateful. We didn't feel it necessary to reserve the BMW and driver since Mohan and his taxi was more then fine. We highly recommend this incredible gentleman, Mohan!

Odd first post. Two grammatical errors ("was more then"/were more than). Spam radar score 8/10.
I see far worse grammatical, punctuation and syntax errors on a daily basis on this site. I will give the gentleman the benefit of the doubt.
Mohan thanks you
You are probably correct. BKMD
Confusion between was and were, especially when there were multiple items (Mohan and his taxi), where "was" was used, is fairly common among native English speakers. They key on the last item and use "was".
Not everyone paid close attention in English class. Another one is lie and lay. Technically, Dylan's song "Lay, Lady, Lay" should be "Lie, Lady, Lie". They're lie-flat seats, not lay-flat seats. Good and well is another. I'm doing "good" instead of I'm doing well. Advice given to new graduates, "Go into the world and do well. But more importantly, go into the world and do good."
And the one that drives me crazy is the use of your where it should be you're. These are all uses I've encountered from native English speakers.
[Added note: I also see advise where someone is asking for advice. Give me advise. There are more but I can't think of them right now.]
[The Brits take a singular noun and use a plural verb. The corporation were headquartered in London. I always wonder if they just left the "s" off corporation. If they are going to treat "corporation" as a plural noun, then they would say, "There are six corporation in the town."]
[Another common mistake is that data is plural. The singular is datum. The data are available to researchers.]
DoctorOtto:
•Thank you for your post; it was informative and kind.
•I fail to see the point of snarky posts on this forum. The forum should impart useful and interesting information (which is what DoctorOtto did), and I wish Tauck would enforce that.
Doctor Otto made that one post and has not been back to the forum since, which does indeed suggest he was just advertising himself. In the past, most of the Spams have come from India.
dwannand - I agree. Sadly, however, the few who use this forum as their personal chat room are not going to change. Rarely can they discuss travel, preferring to ridicule, complain about perceived injustices and to insist their ‘opinions’ are the only opinions that are of any value.
The overwhelming majority in my opinion use this forum for the intent it was designed for—to share travel experiences in a manner that respects all individuals.
Best wishes to you.
You use this as a chatroom too, making statement about tours you have never been on. Almost all chats are travel related and it’s a travel forum. The Doctor Otto, it will interesting to see if he ever comes back to view his message.
No, I do not use this forum to ‘chat’ with personal friends for the sole purpose of viciously belittling others.
I thought when the forum was redesigned (5 years ago??) that Tauck made it where people couldn't get an account and therefore post or comment unless they had at least one tour booked with the company. Before the redesign, as most of us know, there was a ton of spam especially over the weekend when there were less Tauck staff to deal with it. Things have certainly improved.
Let's not go down the path of sweating over grammar or spelling errors. Between errors I make and autocorrect I'm sure I've posted plenty. If I catch it at least I know how to correct it now (the tiny spinner in the upper right of any post you've made).

Nothing wrong with a chat. It is nice that Tauck has private messaging that forum members can use to make such "chats" private if the member allows such.
Thanks for the positive comments. I like to peruse the Forum to get opinions about trips we're looking at, as well as tours we've been on. I enjoy reading the trip-related opinions. Does DoctorOtto even exist? I have no idea, and it doesn't even matter. Several denizens of the Tauck Forum might be happier posting on Twitter (X), where they can snark and condescend the day away, and they will be among their fellow travelers. However, I do wish they would keep their condescension and sanctimony to themselves while on the Tauck Forum.
dwannand - You're a good one to be critical. 20ish posts in 5 years, and rarely anything of substance. Keep up the good work, giving back.
Thanks for the pep talk, BKMD. Your vitriol convinces me I’m on the right track. This is a Travel Forum, not a platform to criticize, belittle, make fun of, and trash contributors for submitting travel tips and giving sincere feedback. I respect contributors who submit kind posts and kind words, but I have no respect for people who make fun of someone who commits minor grammatical transgressions.
I pointed out the grammatical errors because they are very common in fraudulent/spam messages. If you want to believe it's a legit post, that's your right. Hope you do well helping out that Nigerian prince move money..
BKMD, concur that grammatical errors can be a red flag and I'm certainly not vouching for the OPs recommendation. If it was under the old forum software I'd really not give it much credibility.
While the 2026 tour stays at the Leela Palace in New Delhi, it is only for two nights, and the on-tour days seem fairly full. OP says he/she "arrived early" however is not specific. By my reading of the post he/she had to have been there for 3 - 4 days yet says absolutely nothing about the tour, TD, hotel, sites visited, etc., etc. in his/her only forum, ever! Regardless of your feelings about DoctorOtto or about following links in posts, would anyone follow one if DoctorOtto had included a link in his post? The vast majority of spammers/scammers are based in India. For just a taste visit the Scammer Payback website. Having seen a lot of spam over the years on the old forums, I think there are just way too many red flags in this post.
I think the value of the forum is sharing our travel experiences with others. Don't worry about grammar or punctuation, we all make mistakes here and there.
