Pricing Tours - delayed?

Does it seem like it is taking longer and longer for Tauck to price the tours? I like to plan out a year - 18 months...a lot of the tours still don't have 2027 priced and they always used to by this time of year...at least I was always able to book knowing the prices and now it doesn't seem that way.

call them. I got my 2027 $$ and for 2028 just add another 1K

  • I agree - there must be turmoil behind the scenes. Trying to get confirmation on just dates, not even prices, for a tour in 2027 (A Week in Puglia) has been a challenge.

  • Hidden Greece for 2027 isn't priced yet but the dates are set. Usually, tours price in February, March the latest, for the following year. It may be that the hotels haven't priced their group rates yet. Just a guess.

  • I have heard Tauck no longer has the clout with hotels it used to have, they are not promised or guaranteed the rooms they require

  • British - why is that? Are they trying to underprice or what?

  • I wish I could remedy exactly what was mentioned, but since Covid, these hotels don’t need Tauck’s custom

  • A good portion of hotels' revenue comes from groups and repeat business. Is Tauck losing market share, therefore clout?

Regarding pricing, I feel sorry for any business trying to plan for the future, given the chaos wrought by the demented misfit in charge and his band of merry yes-men.

  • Let this be a travel forum to help each other out and leave politics to the WSJ and NYT editors

  • Well you can leave out the opinion commentary on who's to blame but the reality is that the current situation in the middle east is causing ripple effects world wide. The travel industry is just one that is currently being impacted and nobody knows how long this will last. Expecting a tour company, airline or hotel to be able to predict their costs in this climate isn't realistic.
