Giraffes?

edited January 15 in Kenya & Tanzania

This may be a dumb question - chalk it up to the fact that this upcoming safari will be my first....nothing in any of the Kenya/Tanzania Classic Safari talks about giraffes. I did some rudimentary research and there are giraffes in both countries. Have people seen giraffes along with the "Big Five" on the Classic Safari?

  • Yes, lots of giraffes.

Both regular giraffes as seen in the previous post and reticulated giraffes as seen in the photo below.

  • Yes, lots of giraffes. We even saw a giraffe giving birth on our first safari, well sort of, the baby hung half out of its mother for a long time, so long in fact, that the driver really had to get moving, so we never saw it completely although that drop might have been traumatic to watch.

  • Thanks! I really want to see giraffes. :)

  • Yup, from the get go, bunches of giraffes.

    Arusha National Park:

    Serengeti:

    Masai Mara:

  • Great pictures everyone! I hope to get some of my own.

Reading--right now--Lynda Rutledge's book, West With Giraffes. (Nothing to do with K&T, but still very cool.)

  • We did the Tanzania - Zanzibar trip - it was wonderful! Lots of Giraffes and we saw the Big 5 and also what I think is called the top 9. The safaris were great and even getting from location to location was like another safari! Have a great time!

  • Have you done your trip? How was it? Mine is in August (5-17) and I can’t wait!!
