Travel vaccination

Can anyone tell me if yellow fever and typhoid vaccinations are necessary for the Egypt/Jordan tour? The various websites are a bit of a struggle to wade through.

  • Your go to website is The CDC or local Travel clinic. Some family doctors are clueless.

The CDC says a Yellow Fever shot is "Required if traveling from a country with risk of YF virus transmission . . . " So, unless you are doing J&E as the second half of back-to-back tours where the first half includes Eritrea, Rwanda, Somalia, Tanzania, and Zambia, etc. you don't technically need a YF shot. But, if it is available and easy to get now (has not always been the case) and you have other shots to get (see CDC webpage at the link) why not, even if you are a geezer like me. You'll probably need it some day if you continue to travel.

CDC recommends getting the Typhoid shot.

  • I was immunized for typhoid prior to my trip to China, as it was recommended. it wasn't a shot, but 4 capsules, one every other day.

  • no need for Egypt or Jordan.

  • I just saw CDC on 9/6/22 strongly recommends a polio booster. I leave end of Oct.

Do you live in New York ? You do not say which country you are going to. Have you had a full course in the past?

    Straight from the CDC
