It is an excellent trip, hot and a little humid, but totally worth it. Beautiful places, amazing hotels, great food and lovely people.
mil - Did they tell you the age of the komodo dragon you had your picture taken with? It doesn't seem as big as I thought they would be. Perhaps it was a young one. In the picture it seems about the same size as the land iguanas you see in the Galapagos.
I thought (could be wrong) that full sized komodo dragons were significantly larger than full sized land iguanas in the Galapagos.
not into Dragons or Iguanas.... but it is the angle they took the picture; this one was the largest we saw of the 3 total...
we spend max of 40 min. there. and 10m. were people buying t-shirts.
Day 13:
Busy day...
We started with a visit to Uluwato Temple. We got into the park grounds (gardens type) walk downstairs and stopped to see a local praying at a mini shrine and leaving an offering that got almost immediately stolen by a Monkey, that decided then to tossed as he found out it had no food.
We did not enter the Temple area, only saw a little of it as a group of locals came out and also through fence. - So, I would not call it a visit to the temple as stated in the itinerary... from there we walk to the edge of the hill to see another angle of the temple Shrine tip and towards the Cliff. We had chance to enjoy beautiful ocean views and saw more Monkeys.
time spend @ Uluwato, about another 40m.
From there we went to visit GWK to see the giant corny Statue.
This place will be a nice project once it's finish...
Back to the bus... and our guarding angel was waiting with the cold little refreshing towels. Life is Good.
We saw the place and went into the base of the Statute for an ice cream stop! YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
well, there is a story about the ice cream stop... " Drama"! international "Drama" 2 couples' different ethnic groups, 2 different set of customs and both with no patience. 20 adults in line to buy ice cream with 2 guys fitting and yelling" because 1 cut him off" and got in the line first. OMG! Hilarious!!!!!!!!!!!!
Now, my intake on the situation... the guy exploded, his cap flew off, but he was right, he was expressing his frustration with this selfish couple that though they were the only ones in the group and everyone else agreed about everything he said, they just opted to ignore it, but being the last day! subject # 1 had to say what he felt. GOOD FOR HIM!
Next, back to hotel
Farewell dinner @ 6:00 pm, time to say goodbyes. Tables were setup by the top infinity pool with great view in a very classy decor.
Food was excellent, Cosmos great, too!
We ate, we laugh, the TD did a verbal recap of everything we did and saw, it was great.
As it hit 8'sh.. people started to say goodbye and hugs were share ..
Great time, Excellent trip, Magical ending
Thank you so much for all of these incredible photos and for the dynamic and detailed narrative of your trip! What a spectacular journey! I echo the others - it was a fun trip down memory lane. Absolutely fabulous!!! Thanks again for taking the time to share!
AmyBlackstone__ it is a fantastic trip, hopefully you are getting one day prior to the tour.. Singapore it's Amazing and tauck will get you back to the hotel around 2-3 pm , so take advantage and see more in the afternoon till late, the hotel it's centrally located so any taxi will cost you $5-6 and around $10 nighttime. Singapore it's super safe , one day I stayed out till 11:45 pm took a taxi and was back to the hotel in 5-10 min. tons of rest. not all necessary expensive. I ate at the Marina Bay Sands and also at the Fullerton hotel and $$ were same as in the US.
The ice cream stop was memorable!
Yes, mil and gladysorlando984, we're arriving 2 days before the start of the tour (leaving 8/21[1 month from tomorrow!] from Newark, 19 hour non-stop, arrive in Singapore 8/22 around 4:30pm. Tour starts 8/24. Can't wait!
Your mention $--should we be changing to local currency?
I would change to local currency, small amounts- they do take Credit C's. and Debit everywhere. - Do not get money here in the States, or at the Singapore airport, the ATM are not easy to find- just wait till you get to the hotel, they will tell you where the ATM's are.
They are across the street from Raffles- as you come out main entrance turn right and go to the light- cross the street and the next building will have on your right a set of electric stairs, go down 2 floors if I remember well and as you look to the right they are there. 3 different ATM machines.
Easy access and good rate.
This trip it's incredible, hope you get Xavier, he is excellent! an incredible human being. Do give him my regards if you get him.
He knows me.

Here is a land iguana for comparison.

Great picture.
mil - they only spent 40 minutes there so you could have more spa time at the resort or foot massage time on the boat.
Here is a picture that I saw from Komodo National Park. This komodo dragon appears to be much larger that the one you posed with.

Thanks, mil, for your ATM advice and detailed location instructions. Greatly appreciated! Is it advisable to also bring dollars (small bills) too?
Amy I was able to use the ATM in the airport but you will not need a lot, they take credit cards everywhere.
Thanks Gladys. While I'm on the subject... Is there any shopping I should be looking at?
