Getting ready for our September 18 tour and was wondering whether you wear your safari clothes when you go to Victora Falls? We are ready for Kruger but uncertain about the rest of the tour. Thanks.

Yes, safari clothes at Vic Falls

For your tour in September safari clothes would be the right answer. We went in mid-May when the Zambezi was at maximum flood stage. We wore two layers of rain gear and boots and got soaked to the underwear. So in May the answer is clothes that you don’t mind getting really wet. Many of the locals were wearing bathing suits.

You will be supplied with a poncho, which you can wear over your safari clothes. Bring a cheap pair of water shoes with you.
I understand the recommendation to bring water shoes. However, there were steps and slippery areas in early June, when there was a lot of spray. We wore our sturdy shoes and quick dry shorts and did use the ponchos. Our shoes started to dry out during dinner and then I used a hair dryer to complete the drying. It did not take long.

How about wearing closed toe Teva like sandals which dry pretty quickly and have a good grip.
We have been to Victoria Falls three times. The first time it was wet but not too bad. The other two times were when the Falls are at their lowest. Twice from the Zimbabwe side, once from Zambia. The rocks underneath are great to see. We’ve seen people bathing at the top and fishing in the middle of the falls. I’ve flown over the falls on a scenic flight. My husband has zip lined into the middle of the Zambezi river.
Why have we been three times….because it’s unavoidable on most Tauck tours that go to Southern Africa.

When we went in 2019 there was a local vendor at the Falls who provided ponchos and footware. He had many bins filled with different size Crocs (enough to outfit two or three groups) . We left our touring shoes and socks in cubbies there. Tauck paid the rental fee.
If you are thinking of taking photos, make sure your camera is waterproof or you have a waterproof pouch for your iPhone!!! I used a GoPro, but the spray was so strong that day, droplets of water quickly clouded the lens!!!

We were there in November a couple of years ago. We just wore comfortable clothes whether it was safari or shorts and good walking shoes. One of these pics shows what others wore. We also used the ponchos provided at the falls.
Yes, all our photos are so similar! My personal favorite is the one I took with the umbrella in it that someone had left behind become we were the only group on the trail! November 2023.
I am literally and physically here now in Livingstone. It is August and it is the dry season and very hot. The falls are not intense this time of year and a poncho or waterproof shoes are hardly necessary. No one had them on. I wore a t-shirt and sturdy tennis shoes.
