Yet another Tauck Freebie

Got a pair of hats from Tauck today. I understand the "1925" (founding year), but I don't get the "Tauck Circle." Anybody know? The actual color of the caps is a light khaki. The auto white balance on my tablet didn't render it well.

The hats seem to be well made. Union made in the USA, believe it or not.

  • If you've gone on 20 or more Tauck trips, then rumor has it you have become part of the Tauck Circle. I suppose it is like a new tier of benefits similar to what airlines provide with their mileage programs.

However, by revealing your identity you may be violating the fifth clause within the sacred oath of the Tauck Inner Circle.

If the above was your last post on the Forum, as a repercussion of your violation we will understand.

    😂😂

  • Sam- I guess I can only wear the hat at the secret conclaves, then. They should have sent a fez. B)

  • That's a useful gift! I always wear a hat.

  • 2024 was the 200th anniversary of my alma mater and they didn't send me anything (besides a request for donation).

  • BKMD - I assume the first one on the list is the institution you are referring to. If not the first, then the last one has to be it.

  • Yes, Detective Sam, it's one of those. Interesting that two of them are about sea rescue. ALong those lines, you should watch this clip:

  • If you Google "Tauck circle" you'll get a pointer to Smiling Sam's response above. Now, Tauck will have to institute the "Tauck Circle" level of benefits :) It's on the web - including in Google searches - so it must be real.

It's interesting how quickly Google finds something like that.

  • Ken, the 25 circle is for people that have 20 or more tours, the baseball cap also came with a pop up card that had the Studebaker that Arthur Tauck used in his tours, along with a set phone number to call for reservations, GOT any time not only until July and a nice gift certificate to Necessary gear for Tauck 25 Circle merchandise.

  • I just got the hats. :'(

  • We got one hat, a cream color and a voucher for $400 to be used on 1925 gear from Necessary Gear, which I’ve used today.

  • I thought we had received just the hats, but after reading these posts I retrieved the box and found the card with the above mentioned accoutrements tucked into the side of the package. Ken from Vegas, you might have missed seeing this as I originally did.

  • Double checked the box. Nothing else. I'll e-mail customer service.

  • Ken have you taken the required 20 tours? You say you got two hats, we only got one. Just wondering if hats are sent to people who have been long term customers like you but who have not reached 20.

  • I have always been grateful for the gifts Tauck has given us, but I am disappointed in how they have singled out those who meet a certain requirement. Tauck has always treated their guests equally—whether one has taken a hundred tours or their first. I find this marketing scheme to be quite haughty (for lack of a better word).

I will be donating the hat and using the gift card for purchasing items to give to some victims of the recent fires. I'll share my concerns with Tauck when I send them my 'thank you' note.

Certainly kfnknfzk. If you don’t require the gifts, that’s a nice idea and they will be free advertising for Tauck wearing their logo in the clothing.

In addition, you may not have had time to look at the items, there are only a few, clothing choices are all over $100. I chose a puffer jacket for my husband which costs $254, his current one is really old.

The only thing that worries me, is that if he wears it on tour, he may be mistaken for the Tour director. On one tour we took, people kept mistaking him for the TD as they were wearing the same type of clothing, same height, same fair coloring, it caused quite a laugh.

  • Very well said Kathy, thank you.

British said: Ken have you taken the required 20 tours? You say you got two hats, we only got one.

Yes, my wife and I have 22 tours done. Here's what shows up on my account dashboard:

If you and Mr. B both have over 20, you should have gotten 2 hats. The same fulfillment center that left out my information and voucher probably left out one of your hats.

  • 😂😂😂 yes, I think we are at 40

  • When we took our first riverboat tour, we were told by the cruise director that the shipboard credit and room service were compliments of Scylla.

  • Thank you, British. I have not looked at the website, but I am hoping there might be wool caps/scarves I could purchase—lower price, more items for those who need the extra help.

  • There is a beanie I think but it has a huge Tauck logo across it.
When disasters happen, the most useful donations are cash. When people send clothing, it has to be housed and sorted, that all costs time and money and labor, perhaps find a trusted charity and send money to an appropriate place.

  • Thanks, but we have all logistics covered.

  • My G-d, I'm not making any "point" but merely trying to show solidarity with those who do not reap the rewards for taking more than twenty (20) tours. It is unfortunate that seems to irritate you so much. I will not engage further.

  • Of course you were making a point and a negative one. We all know you have frequently bragged about the perks you get in your suite, the gifts you get on your small group tours, and yes you told us all about your husbands birthday gift. Now suddenly you're showing "solidarity" with people who don't spend the extra dollars for a nicer cabin or a more expensive tour. Those little perks never seemed to bother you before.

  • Well said and so very true.

  • Keepin' my mouth shut, but there exists a digital history o:)o:)

  • Tauck appears to be getting too many calls today. I’ve tried the number for the haughty group and no answer, so much for a special service.
