Debi, start taking them on trips while they are young. We are taking our adult children in August. As mentioned before, we started to take our child on international trips when she was 7. She remembers all of them. We are now taking her and her husband. She’s 31 now, and still to this day asks us where we are going! I do say my thank yous every morning for being so fortunate to be able to see the world. I don’t know how I was so lucky. My parents would say, do while you can.
I am also not a Disney World personality. The amount of money spent at Disney, is just about comparable to see another country in my opinion.
Agreed. But everyone deserves one trip to Disney, our youngest was 7 when we went to Disney but we lived in England then, so it was twofer and we got $2 to the pound back then, so it was a cheap trip.
To British and Ourtravels, we have been traveling with our two children since they were very young but not internationally until they were in High School. We take them on a trip now (10 of them) every two years. I really wanted to take them and the grandkids to the Canyons area with Bridges this year. My daughters were 5 and 7 last time we took them there.They voted on a resort in the Florida Keys with 2 houses and 2 pools, plus 6 shared pools and Dolphin experiences, etc. I was against it but I wanted to let them have a say. It did turn out to be one of the best trips yet! My younger daughter will be the one to drag her family wherever we will take them, us paying of course. I think the Bridges tours sound great!
Sealord, I agree boards are quiet. We are traveling to K & T in October for our first trip to Africa. This is a lifelong dream! I have poured over the boards and trying to get all the information from those who have traveled here before. Please let us know how your trip turns out and I would appreciate any pointers you have from your extensive knowledge.
We are traveling to Kenya and Tanzania in august for first time…any more tips! What has been shared has been so helpful…thank you!! Pictures are unreal!!! What was that lion reaching for in the jeep??!!
Could you see the glacier on Mt. Kenya? I understand there is not much of it left and it will be totally gone by 2050 or so. It was pretty small in this zoom shot I took in 2015
WOW!! What great pictures and great advice. I see people wearing black and carrying black backpacks. I was under the impression we should not wear black or navy blue because they attract tsetse flies. I have a black puffy coat I would like to take for the early mornings. This is our first safari and gaining great insights from the forum!
We returned from Tanzania a few weeks ago and we did encounter lots of tsetse flies on a couple of days However, I doubt even their bites can penetrate from an outer coat and of course they can’t harm a black bag if they bite that. I would not worry.
Can anyone comment on size of planes used on the Safari. From a few pictures I have seen on this board looks like 10-14 seaters. Also how long are the flights, some basic googling indicates 30-50 minutes for the various flights. TIA.

How were the water levels in Amboseli?
Water levels were fine. Greener than normal but still dry and dusty away from the lakes and rivers.
Off to the Masai Mara today. Weather has been beautiful. Had a little rain yesterday but no bother.

The school made a haul with our group. We sent them a truck load of supplies.
